Bon Temps' name could not be more ironic. There is nothing "good" about an employment agency with few agents and even fewer jobs. I am a lawyer (JD/LLM) with two years of legal work experience. I first reached out to Bon Temps in December, looking for short-term legal/paralegal work while searching for a full-time job. After two weeks and no response, I called and left a message.

Two follow-up calls later, I finally spoke with Beatrice in early January. I'll even take receptionist work, I say. Send me your resume, she says. I send it. No response. In February, I followed up with two more emails and voice message. No response. March, nothing. April, nothing. Not even a canned, "Thank you for your message, I will respond shortly." At this point, I'm doubtful this agency even exists. Proceed at your own risk and disappointment.

I found Beatrice at Bon Temps to be refreshingly forthright. After reviewing my resume, she told me she could definitely get me work, but it might take a while. At any given time, the agency has hundreds of people actively seeking work, so it's unrealistic to expect to get an assignment immediately. But Beatrice came through, and in a big way: I'm working as a legal assistant at a fabulous boutique law firm where employee satisfaction--both support staff and attorney--is quite high. I couldn't be more pleased, and without hesitation give Bon Temps a five-star rating!

Bon Temps brings to their clients and temps, decades of experience and talent, in addition to a caring nature. Faced with tremendous challenges and as the market improves, their job will become easier. Only people with top talent can expect to represent Bon Temps to maintain a successful business in spite of hard economic times. I have confidence that Bon Temps will continue to help people for many years to come, given their expertise in running a specialized business.

I too went for a job at BT and was at first treated well. However they have few jobs to give and mostly seem like a front business for something else. Very eerie feeling when I was in their office being tested. Their "Big Boss Beatrice" then met with me and after telling me how great I was, promised to get back to me. She never did. We all know that the economy is in the gutter.

Nobody buys the unemployment statistics that the government is selling (5.8% as of this writing) - it is all a lot of BS. But even still a little honesty on the part of "The Family" would have been good. I left that place thinking I would have a job in week, but instead never heard back from them. When I did finally call them a couple of weeks later they all-but brushed me off! BBB told me that she would make it her job to get me a job, but that never happened.

She just built be up for a big fall. At least at other agencies they say that it is tough and they will try their best and that is better than the BS I was told at BT. Avoid this place like the plague.

I am a licensed attorney with extensive litigation experience. I called to inquire about temporary legal work and the woman explained that they were only getting a small number of jobs for attorneys, which means that firms are not using their agency. Then the woman very rudely hung up on me. I have signed up with other agencies and all of them had more opportunities and professional employees. If looking for temporary legal work this is not the way to go.

I was at first impressed with Bon Temps as Bea Kaufman got back to me right away. She even sent me some promotional items in the mail. She said she could definitely get me work right away and would get in touch with me again about work the following week. I never heard from her again, which I thought was strange as our conversations were good and she implied she had some job orders already waiting to be filled.

Since I already found a position elsewhere I never bothered to follow up with her again. I'm sure if I did I could have probably gotten work through her. I recommend that if you plan on finding work through Bon Temps you take the initiate to follow up yourself.

This temp agency has been in business for about 30 years and they really know what they are doing with placements. They specialize in legal secretaries, word processors and proofreaders and have positions available in top midtown as well as downtown firms. For sure, "Bon Temps are the Best Temps", but I'm a bit biased since I am one (of the best).
