Services
Youth Job Center envisions a future where all young people have the support to build a meaningful career and fulfill their potential, and for the last 37 years the agency has worked to make that vision a reality. Youth Job Center provides work-readiness training, personalized career advising, job placement, and support to over 2,000 youth and young adults (ages 14-25) per year across Evanston, Chicago, and Cook County.
Youth Job Center has been a leading provider of employment-related services for youth in Evanston and Chicago, serving more than 20,000 young people during our more than 35-year history. YJC was founded on the belief that youth and young adults are an undeveloped community asset-a valuable, untapped source of energy, talent, and productivity.
The mission of Youth Job Center is, "Success for young people - in the workplace and in life." We envision a future where all young people have the support to build a meaningful career and fulfill their potential, and for the last 36 years we have worked to make that vision a reality. As an agency, Youth Job Center is dedicated to addressing the societal issue of Opportunity Youth, or young people ages 16-25 who are disconnected from work and school.YJC addresses this issue by providing programs that are preventative as well as responsive, working to prevent youth from becoming disconnected while simultaneously working with youth who are already disconnected.
We're excited to share with you YJC's Strategic Plan, which our board just reviewed, revised, and re-adopted. Since the plan's approval in 2017, YJC's staff and Board of Directors have conducted an annual review, looking at accomplishments and revisiting the goals set, often arriving at the decision that the plan's goals were still the right ones and that the plan continued to point us in the right direction.

If your a former client and want to visit just by printing paperwork pleaae don't come in. I called Mrs renneta ahead of time to inform her I was gonna going to print my pay stubs, as I walked in she didn't even ask how my day was and just told me to wonder at any place if I have to use the computer or washrooms. If your a former client please don't come in and visit, very rude staff in here!

The staff at the YJC was super nice and helpful assisting me to find a job and seek informational interview opportunities. They are highly competent of their profession and thrilled to see us succeed, and they treat everyone with great respect. I highly recommend YJC if you look to find a job, improve your interview skills, seek connections, or make friends :

Partnership in the community is one the of biggest pillars of my company. I actively work with a number of organizations in the local area -- I'm grateful for all that I collaborate with, but I'm particular thankful for the YJC. I view them as true partners. I've worked with the team for nearly a year now and have created the infrastructure for an internship pipeline that offers local youths a culinary career pathway. Folks like, Eileen, Tana, Rose, and Ayesha have been like an extension of my team offering their support to me personally and, most importantly, the interns and full time staffers that have come through YJC's programming.

I highly recommend the YJC for any folks looking to volunteer, serve full time or donate. The resources of the organization have a made a lasting impact on the individuals it serves and local businesses like my own.

My son was there today with his friend to see if they could help them find a job. They are 17 years old. Apparently this office claimed it was closed, however it was only 2:15 and they close at 5:00pm, according to this website. Anyway, they were rude and did not want to help these kids, basically turned them away. This is supposed to be a Youth Job Center. I do not know who is running this place. Obviously they do not know how to do their jobs! So unprofessional! I will definitely let others know not to go there!

Everyone here really cares about helping to find people jobs. I did the summer youth employment program and ended up with more job offers than I could handle and ened up turning down 2 while accepting 2 others. They are knowledgeable and having partnerships with businesses really helps to get your foot in the door. They give you all the opportunities and skills and go the extra mile to make sure that you are doing well.
