Malena Smither began working for a large staffing service in Houston, Texas in 1968, following a short bout as a teacher of physically challenged children. After 16 years in the industry, she moved to Chapel Hill and founded Smither & Associates, Inc., in 1983. She maintains a small, highly professional staff of caring associates who share her philosophy of service to clients, individual job seekers and the community at large. She is a long time member of many local civic organizations, including the Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce.

I was warmly greeted for my first meeting and Malena Smither spent a good amount of time listening to me. She quickly picked up on my unique situation and the challenges I would encounter in my job search. But she respected my decision to change the course of my career and committed to looking for the right opportunity for me. I knew it would take time, but finding the right position was more important than finding "a job." Malena and Julie found a position with which I couldn't be more pleased.
